Chris Vickery is the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of U.S. Legal Support.
Chris Vickery is an experienced and enthusiastic operations and technology executive, specializing in leading large, complex teams to achieve superior results. Chris is equally comfortable in defining and executing a strategic vision as in achieving day-to-day operating excellence. He is at his best solving complex business problems and empowering diverse teams to produce at high levels.
After starting two small businesses after university, Chris started his Finance career at Citibank in London. He held several roles at Citi, notably leading the technology department of the legacy Solomon Brothers Foreign Exchange trading business and serving as COO of the Global Commodities trading business. Chris then moved to JP Morgan Chase, where he led several large global operations teams. He had a ringside seat for the global Financial Crisis and worked closely with internal and industry teams to improve the operating environment and lower risk.
As Chief Operations Officer for the Americas at Nomura, the Japanese investment bank, Chris helped build a full-service investment banking sales and trading platform for the region, including leading large-scale operations and technology transformation. Chris was also asked to lead the Securities Industry operations forum, and as Chair of the SIFMA Operations and Technology Steering Committee, helped steward the securities industry from a T+3 to a T+2 settlement cycle, which reduced billions of dollars of risk for the industry. Chris had additional global roles leading the firm’s Enterprise Data management function, where he helped Nomura dramatically reduce its operating expenses, and leading the Operations Fintech function, exploring the impact and potential opportunities of the emerging technologies in crypto and cloud.
After leaving Nomura, Chris spent 3 years as an independent consultant, advising large clients on several initiatives including enterprise technology transformation, legal entity governance, client lifecycle management, and data management.
A U.S. citizen, Chris was raised in Eswatini (Swaziland), and attended the University of Cape Town (South Africa), where he played squash for the university. He lives in Manhasset, New York with his wife and twin children.
